Olympic 200-metre champion Veronica Campbell has made us proud yet again when she created history by becoming the first Jamaican to win the world 100 metres title at the 11th edition of the World Athletic Championships in Osaka Japan.  We are currently in 9^th place with 1 gold 1 silver and 3 bronze medals.

The Reggae Boyz will have to come out fighting when the team travels to face Colombia in an international friendly match this month. While final negotiations are still in progress the September 12 FIFA international match date will be the first for the national team since its unsuccessful tour of Asia in June.

Five members of the West Indian cricket team excluding former captain Brian Lara have reportedly been approached by the Indian Cricket League (ICL) to take part in their inaugural season.  It has been said that the Essel Group, the leagues owners, has offered between US$350,000 and US$500,000 to the players as inducement to join there league.
