Vybzing With  Daisi Jo - Model Behavior

The world may be saturated with models and beauty queens but there is only one Daisi Jo. Even though she is very private and somewhat reserved that doesn’t prevent you from getting brief glances of her wit when she is questioned and she doesn’t hesitate to share her goals and ambitions.  In a superficial world filled with pretty faces and heavenly bodies it is nice to find a model who is grounded with a sense of direction and a remarkable love for life and there is no question as to why she was once crowned Ms. Jamaica International.
JV: Who is Daisi Jo?
DJ: Many people know me as just a model and a Beauty Queen but there are many dimensions to me. Most of my fans don’t know anything about me personally because I am very private. My first name is Juel Daisi is my middle name. I am really the embodiment of multi- ethnicity. My father’s side is from Jamaica and my mom is from the Middle East.
JV: What prompted you to enter the Miss Jamaica International Pageant?
DJ: love when I get asked this question because I think of how silly I was that I almost passed up
the opportunity. I was on a plane heading back from Jamaica when a woman in the Miami airport approached me and told me I should be a model and if I was interested in doing pageants. Can you believe I told her, “No”? Well, crazy thing because she sat next to me on the plane back to Los Angeles and we exchanged phone numbers. When the Miss Jamaica International Pageant came along she encouraged me to enter. I had no idea of what I was getting into but it was ultimately because of her that I entered. When I think back on the fact that I almost didn’t enter the pageant, I almost cringe at the opportunities I would have passed up.
JV:
What was the pageant like?

DJ:
When I went to the Miss International pageant I was in Japan for 3-6 weeks doing press tours, sponsor visits, and many other things to create press for the grand event. My day started at 6am and normally ended about midnight.
I met some really important people during the pageant like Diplomats, Ambassadors, Governor Generals, Prime Ministers and even national celebrities. I have made so many friends all over the world. I must now know someone in every country. Thank God for email!
JV: What is your most memorable work experience?
DJ: Believe it or not but I don’t think I have had my most memorable work experience yet. I am working on so many projects right now that are just going to take my career to a whole new level. I think I’ll save this question for a few years from now.
JV: What are you other achievements?
DJ: This year I have gotten so many awards for my community efforts with young people. I am a credited Executive Producer, Producer and Screen Writer for both film and television. I am a nationally certified fitness trainer and yoga instructor.
JV: Tell us about BQM
DJ: BQM is Beauty Queen Management. An exclusive online agency and networking site for Beauty Queens and pageant type models worldwide. We partnered with a software company that created a web based interface where we can provide online portfolios to the Beauty Queens that are represented by BQM. In addition to that potential clients can browse the database via username and password once they have been cleared through our Client Verification Department, which basically checks the legitimacy of the company and job offering. Because our web presence is so important to the business I like to make sure we don’t have random weirdo’s submitting Client Applications.
JV: How did you get started in business?
DJ: I have a degree in International Business and Marketing so it has always been in my plans to go into business. I started venturing into business when I was in high school with my Jamaican grandmother who was in the real estate industry. I really enjoy the art of business with all of its wheeling and dealing. I have been fortunate to have many mentors throughout my life that I have learned and taken advice from. One thing all of them have said in common is that I am a great negotiator. My first company was a small training school for young models and pageant contestants. Then this past year I developed an entertainment conglomerate called Model House Holdings, Inc. which we develop and manage several entertainment companies, BQM being one of them.
JV: Are you where you imagined you would be?
DS: I am such an over achiever and I know I am way ahead of the game but I have extremely high expectations of myself. I have gone through so much and so many changes in the last 2 years that have all resulted in amazing personal growth and have lead to where I am right now. So I deeply believe that GOD has put me where I am supposed to be at this time.
JV: So the real Daisi Jo is what you see is what you get?
DJ: Most people think that I have been successful in modeling because of my family name or because they have Money but I am a self made woman meaning that I pounded the pavement and paid my dues just like every other model. I think my looks are a hindrance because from the outside looking it looks like things just happened for me over night. I am extremely honest which often times comes across as being arrogant but in this business people are quick to try to discredit you because they think you are young and innocent. The truth of the matter is that I have been through a lot in my life and I have loads of experience and wisdom to pull from.
